I Warned You...
Welcome to the most intriguing part of my UX portfolio: the "Do Not Click" page. I’ve added this page as a playful yet insightful experiment to showcase how we are influenced to do things even if we don’t outwardly see it. Imagine "do not click" as a digital version of the classic red button that says, "Do not press." It's like telling a kid not to eat the candy on the table or a cat not to knock over that glass of water. Humans are hardwired to explore boundaries and test limits, and your page is the perfect playground for this instinct.
The Science Behind the Trick
There's something inherently fascinating about being told not to do something. Ever notice how being told not to do something makes you want to do it even more? This is called reactance theory, developed by psychologist Jack Brehm. When our freedom to choose is restricted, we feel an urge to reclaim our autonomy. In this case, that means clicking on a page you’re explicitly told not to. This is classic reverse psychology at work. By daring you not to click, I’m subtly nudging you towards it. It’s a lighthearted way to demonstrate how our minds work in mysterious ways, especially when it comes to making choices.
